24th - 28th June 2024 - Cycle Group trip to Littlecote House Hotel, Berkshire
The group of 35 assembled at the Warners Hotel Littlecote House, near Hungerford.
We arrived on Monday ready to ride on Tuesday. The weather prior to our arrival had been very hot and remained so.
The hotel provided us with bike storage in the historic Orangery Hall, certainly the most luxurious bike shed ever!

We had 27 riders and divided ourselves into three groups, with one being for challenger riders doing slightly longer rides each day of around 50 miles. The other two group rides were doing 30 to 40 miles a day.
Littlecote House sits in Berkshire close to Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. The terrain varied from level canal towpaths to steep climbs onto the downs. Routes for the rides had been pre researched by our ride leaders.

We covered a large area taking in rides along the parts of the National Ridgeway trail, which runs across large swathes of southern England, we visited Lambourne, Marlborough, Avebury, Greenham Common, Aldermaston, Thatcham, and surrounding hamlets and villages.
Late afternoon, the Hotel put on rifle shooting and archery sessions for those who wanted to partake. Following dinner, we had entertainment to enjoy.
We rode out on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, before heading home on Friday.
However, one of our intrepid riders decided to ride all the way home, staying overnight in Reading, before arriving home early evening on Saturday!

Tuesday
A group of ladies take a pretty walk through the woods, cross the bridge over the river to Chiltern Folliat, only to arrive at the pub which is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Very disappointing as they were all ready for a drink!

The 2024 cycling holiday would not have been possible without the time, effort and work carried out by Stewart Wagstaff in arranging the holiday and the Ride Leaders for their preparation and leadership on the day.
A big thank you from us all.
