Cheshunt u3a is a charity which provides opportunities for those no longer in work to come together and learn for fun.

Now in our sixeenth year, with over 800 members, we continue to be a vibrant organisation, to which so many members voluntarily give their time organising activities. They arrange meetings, guest speakers and produce our printed programme. They carry out the administration, membership, IT systems and financial requirements to make it run smoothly.

We have an extensive range of Group activities ably run by group leaders, with other members stepping forward to act as leaders to new groups.

As well as the numerous activity/hobby groups we now have lots of outdoor pursuits on offer.  As well as the physical activities we have plenty of opportunities to travel by coach or train to interesting places in London and the Home Counties. Members also now have more opportunities to take longer breaks with several groups organising holidays further afield.

We continue to participate in a Group Sharing Agreement with local u3as giving members the opportunity to enjoy further activities not usually provided by Cheshunt u3a.

Please come along to our monthly meetings (held on the fourth Thursdays at 1:30pm) at the Laura Trott Centre, Windmill Lane, Cheshunt to find out more about us - including information on individual groups, membership and get a copy of our monthly programme, which details forthcoming group activities. You can also buy books, jigsaws, refreshments and tickets for our raffle.

You are welcome to attend these meetings as a visitor where a Temporary Membership Fee of £2 is charged and a dated receipt will be given. This confers all the advantages of Cheshunt U3A membership, including Insurance, for that month only, during which time a group activity can be joined if there is room, on production of the receipt and payment of any group attendance fee.

Each month we have a guest speaker - details on our Events Page - with talks covering all manner of subjects. In the past year talks have included wildlife in India, the first Enigma codebreakers, Midshires Search and Rescue, beekeeping, stupid criminals and the music of Simon & Garfunkel. We also enjoyed a virtual tour around Camden and Kings Cross, a much more pleasant area of London than it used to be.

Every member plays a part in making our u3a a pleasant and vibrant organisation. It is run by the members for the members. This collective spirit will ensure Cheshunt u3a continues to be a place where people come to enjoy activities, make friends and help make it fun for everyone.
