Bike Ride to London

The weather was good to us on the day, despite the BBC doom and gloom!

The Challengers took on a long ride to London led by Paul.

This was a mainly on road ride so we didn’t broadcast the ride. We had 12 riders which was plenty to try to keep together!

Riding on mainly quiet roads or cycle ways we made our way to Finsbury Park then onto Smithfield and onward to St Paul’s, where we had a photo under Temple Bar, which once stood at the entrance to Theobalds.

Next stop was the Tower of London onto St Catherines Dock, Tobacco Wharf, Limehouse and lunch at Victoria Park. After a well earned rest we returned via Walthamstow wetlands, Albany Park.

On the way back towards Bury Green we came upon a distressed horse rider with the horse on its side in a ditch unable to get to its feet.

The Fire Brigade turned up and took charge. We left, a tale too long to go into here, but I will be pleasantly surprised if we hear the horse made it out alive!

Our ride was about the 40 mile mark.
