Cheshunt u3a held their u3a day on Wednesday 25^th September at their local Tesco superstore. This is an extremely busy regional retail centre and one of Tesco’s flagship stores having been established 40 years ago when Cheshunt was the location for the company’s head office. It is currently undergoing some refurbishment so the store manager generously allowed us to take advantage of a large temporary space in the centre of the store.

A rolling power point presentation with photos of the many groups in action proved a very effective way of engaging with shoppers, many of whom stopped to chat and learn more about the u3a. As well as potential members we met several younger people who were interested on behalf of retired parents who were in need of “something to do”.

Overall, a great success and one that was supported by the newly elected MP for Broxbourne, Lewis Cocking, who responded to our invitation to attend and spent a good deal of time with us to support our efforts.
