The A Train is a band taking its repertoire from a range of jazz standards, songs from the musicals and The Great American songbook. This wide spread of material means the band appeals across most age groups, as its repertoire is accessible to and recognised by most listeners.

The members have come together over a number of years since eight different u3as, along the A10 corridor, signed an agreement to share access to their groups, thus opening up Cheshunt’s Musicians United group to a wider potential market of musicians. While still encouraging and helping players to improve their performance, the band has been able to play at a variety of public bookings including festivals, pubs and other venues. On the first Tuesday of each month, it opens the monthly “Open Mic” sessions at The Brown Bear in Braughing with an hour long performance.

While most of the band's players are fairly local to Cheshunt, others travel from as far away as Friern Barnet and Duxford and the band welcomes potential new players to its rehearsals between 10am and 12 noon on Mondays at St. Clement’s church hall in Turnford.

Do please check, before coming along for a rehearsal, you haven’t chosen one of the very few weeks in the year when we don’t rehearse!
